Making a frame drum is a deep and powerful process of birthing a shamanic healing tool for personal transformation. The drum is a sacred tool, an instrument of music, and an intimate partner in our soul journey. When you make a drum you enter into a shamanic process of personal healing.

Frame drums are woven through time with women’s spirituality. In this Medicine Drum Making  Workshop for women only, you will be joined by sisters, together co creating safe and sacred space to birth your drum.

Deep Ceremony and Sacred Circle

This is a workshop of deep ceremony and we invite you to birth your drum in your own way- though instructions and guidance are provided!. You can choose to make your drum in the garden, in a private room or in the communal space. It is important that you tune into your own needs as a birthing woman. You will be lovingly midwifed through the process by Graduates and Teacher of the School of Shamanic Womancraft, Sarah Miller.

Your Midwife for the Day:

Sarah Bird Miller: Teacher of the School of Shamanic Womancraft Four Season Journey  & MoonSong Workshop, Dancer, Story-Teller, Earth-Keeper, Filmmaker and Early Childhood Educator.  www.embodimentsdance.au

You will be held in a safe and sacred space as you birth yourself and the drum through this creative shamanic (meaning ‘inner’) process.  With intention and consciousness you can connect with the animal of the hide you are using (Deer or Kangaroo), the wood of the frame (Hoop Pine) and the way you are with your creative process. The relationship with your drum can last a lifetime.

Birthing a drum will be informed by your own birth story and how you do creative processes. It is helpful to bring as much awareness to your own birth story, the birth of any children you have, and the way you birth creative projects, idea and business ventures.

When you birth your drum you also birth yourself as a drummer, connecting to ancient pan cultural lineages when the drummers were women.

Attended the one day drum making workshop on 9/2/19 and can not recommend it highly enough. Sharing the experience with 10 other women at various stages in their lives was very profound and special. The day was beautifully guided and facilitated by Sarah and Viv, deeply wise and nurturing women . The creation of my medicine drum was intimate and powerful. I am in awe of this beautiful instrument and the tone. (Oops I did have a little tap even though she/he is still trying) . Thank you so much Sarah and Viv. I hope to join you again in the future. Love Vicky xx
