Giving Voice to Menopause, created by She Listens, is a film about the diverse experiences of menopause. It aims to inject the telling of this stage of women’s lives into the cultural conversation. It was made to expand the field of telling of women and gender diverse peoples experiences, and to counter the harm being done when society does not listen to the wisdom and knowledge women have regarding their own physical, psychological, and spiritual health and wellbeing. It values the importance of holding conversations amongst those who menstruate about their experiences, and aims to grow communities of wellbeing and support. Watching the film in group viewings creates opportunities for the diverse stories of women and gender diverse peoples menopausal experience to be shared and heard.

The SheListens Team have created a powerful workshop which runs for 2 hours and includes the screening of the film, and a curated discussion. We share powerful information  on peri/menopause and menopause including understanding changing hormones, the endocrine system,  support & self -care. We also share some resources.  It can be delivered to organisations interested in fostering a more positive menstrual and menopausal culture.

The session is led by two facilitators and costs $1500

Offerings

1:1 Sessions

Are you feeling stuck, or going through a challenging transition or time? Sarah offers 1:1 sessions based on the modality of School of Shamanic Womancraft which recognises that you have the answers within. Using shamanic womancraft processes you can bring awareness to the patterns and story of your rites of passage and your woundings – seeing them as opportunities for growth and initiation.

Ritual & Performance

I works in collaboration with women, and gender diverse people to co-create sacred ceremonies and ritual. My ritual work focuses on creating mytho- poetic and embodied stories of rites of passage and deepening our connection to the earth. I also work with artists and the wider community to create shared rituals and performance in honour of the earth, and to support the restoration of ceremony, art & ritual in our lives.

Storytelling & Writing

I am a storyteller, writer and emerging playwright. I believe that stories can change the world. As the writer Barry Lopez said, "Everything is held together with stories. That is all that is holding us together, stories and compassion."
I run a free Storytelling by the Fire session monthly in Highett. You can read some of my writing here, and sign up to my newsletter for my monthly writing and musings.
